Legendary hardcore and metalcore band WALLS OF JERICHO have unleashed their new single, “Agency,” taken from their long-awaited new album, System Error: Humanity, arriving November 13 via Napalm Records.
Following comeback single “The Ascent,” “Agency” finds WALLS OF JERICHO charging forward with thrash-driven riffs before crashing into a massive breakdown. Frontwoman Candace Buckingham delivers an empowering message centered on freedom, self-determination and fighting for fundamental human rights.
“‘Agency’ is a song about freedom. The kind that lives within you, the kind no one can take away, and the kind you have to fight for every single day,” says Buckingham.
System Error: Humanity marks WALLS OF JERICHO’s long-awaited return and captures the Detroit veterans at their most aggressive. Tracks including “True Til’ Death,” “The Ascent” and “Untouchable” lean into the band’s punishing hardcore foundation, while “The Flame” and “Agency” inject a heavier dose of thrash into the record.
The album also features several guests. Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe appears on “Broken Mouths Can’t Speak,” joining Buckingham for a dual-vocal assault, while The Red Chord’s Guy Kozowyk contributes to “Humanity.” Patsy Puopolo and Matthew Ruby appear on the slow-burning “A Brighter Fire.”
Behind the boards is Converge guitarist and acclaimed producer Kurt Ballou, whose credits include NAILS, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Code Orange and Every Time I Die. Ballou captures the band’s ferocious live energy across a record built around themes of reclamation, resistance, human rights and the belief that humanity can also provide the solution to the systems it has created.
