Colorado dark metal band WAYFARER have returned with “Perdition’s Crossing,” their first new music since 2023’s acclaimed American Gothic. The track features guest vocals from David Eugene Edwards of 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand and serves as the first preview of the band’s forthcoming album, Riders Of The Setting Sun.

Due in late 2026 through Vesperian, the eight-track record is set to push WAYFARER deeper into dark, cinematic Americana while opening a new chapter in the band’s continually evolving sound.

“Perdition’s Crossing” brings that direction to the forefront, embracing a particularly desolate atmosphere while maintaining the haunting character that has defined much of WAYFARER’s work.

For the band, collaborating with Edwards carries particular significance given the influence of Denver’s musical history on their own development.

“We have long walked a path that was very much informed by Denver Sound legends like 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand, among many others.”

WAYFARER describe working with Edwards as a “dream come true” and see the collaboration as an ideal introduction to the new musical territory they are beginning to explore.

A New Chapter for WAYFARER

“Perdition’s Crossing” was recorded in Colorado and produced by Ben Chisholm, known for his work with Chelsea Wolfe. James Barone of Beach House engineered the track, while Enslaved’s Iver Sandøy handled mixing and Alan Douches mastered it.

The accompanying music video was directed by Brendan McGowan, whose previous credits include work with Tribulation and Imperial Triumphant.

The single will appear on Riders Of The Setting Sun, WAYFARER’s first full-length since American Gothic. While complete details surrounding the album have yet to be revealed, the band confirms it will contain eight tracks and continue expanding into new sonic and emotional territory.

Limited “Perdition’s Crossing” Vinyl

Vesperian is also releasing “Perdition’s Crossing” as a strictly limited 12-inch maxi-single, with only 300 copies being pressed worldwide.

The black vinyl edition comes housed in a foldout sleeve featuring lyrics, commentary from the band, notes about the tracks and artwork by graphic novelist Julian Brier.

Side A features “Perdition’s Crossing,” while Side B contains two exclusive pieces: a remix by Ben Chisholm and a field recording.

Of the 300 copies, 200 are allocated to the United States and 100 to Europe through the Vesperian webstore.
