German symphonic metal band Xandria have announced their new studio album, Eclipse, set for release on August 7 via Napalm Records.
Alongside the announcement, the band has unveiled the album’s first single, “The Shannon’s Home,” accompanied by an official music video.

According to the band, Eclipse represents the most diverse and cinematic work in Xandria’s discography to date, blending classic ‘80s-inspired heavy metal riffs, modern low-tuned guitars, cinematic orchestration, Celtic folk influences, dark electronic textures, and intimate rock moments into a cohesive sonic journey.
Band mastermind Marco Heubaum commented on the new single:
“A song like a beautiful, slightly dark fairytale — which makes sense, as it is an analogy of life, pictured as the river Shannon, flowing from its source to the sea. And just one of the many colorful facets of our new album, which will be a journey full of diverse elements and surprises.”
Driven by the vocals of Ambre Vourvahis, “The Shannon’s Home” combines dreamlike melodies, folk instrumentation, and cinematic vibes while offering the first glimpse into the expansive soundscape of Eclipse.
Following the rebirth of the band on 2023’s The Wonders Still Awaiting, the upcoming album pushes even further musically and lyrically. The band describes Eclipse as a dark, colorful, and defiant statement centered around reason, empathy, and democracy in increasingly turbulent times.
As sole composer for the band, Marco Heubaum continues drawing influence from film scores and cinematic composers including Hans Zimmer and John Williams, shaping the album’s sweeping orchestral atmosphere.
The album also features several notable guest musicians and collaborators. Ally Storch of Subway to Sally appears on “Lore,” while longtime collaborator McAlbi contributes Celtic tin and low whistles on multiple tracks. “The Last Generation” includes a children’s choir and piano performed by Hollywood pianist Richard Z. Wang, known for his work at Hans Zimmer’s studio.
Additionally, the band reunited with the Sofia Session Orchestra & Choir, whose credits include the television series His Dark Materials. Orchestrations were handled by film score composers Lukas Geppert and Ishaan Tyagi.
