A Killer’s Confession Reimagine The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” With Stripped-Down Cover

A Killer’s Confession, the alternative metal band led by former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, have released a stripped-down cover of The Weeknd’s global hit “Blinding Lights.”

Moving away from the crushing riffs and aggression that typically characterize the band’s music, A Killer’s Confession take the track in a markedly different direction. The reimagined version puts the focus on the song’s recognizable melody and Reavis’ vocal performance while maintaining the emotional atmosphere of the original.

The decision to record another cover follows the response to A Killer’s Confession’s interpretation of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box,” which appeared on the band’s 2025 album, Victim 2. This time, Reavis wanted to venture even further outside the band’s usual musical territory.

“I enjoyed doing Heart-shaped box so much and it was so well received I felt like maybe I should do another,” Reavis explains. “This time I wanted to do something in a different genre, and go a completely different route. I always enjoy the song, ‘Blinding Lights’ just something catchy and haunting about it. I feel like it could be the perfect song to be stuck in our character’s head for the last time ever as we end this trilogy.”

The new single arrives ahead of another busy period for A Killer’s Confession. The band will release its sixth studio album, Victim 3, this fall through MNRK Heavy, completing the trilogy that began with Victim 1 in 2024 and continued with Victim 2 in 2025.

A Killer’s Confession will also head across the United States this fall on the “Everything Comes Full Circle Tour,” with Dizasterpiece and Dead Things joining as special guests. The headline run begins November 4th in Raleigh, North Carolina and continues through December 5th in Lakewood, Ohio.

Formed in 2016, A Killer’s Confession have built their sound around heavy riffs, massive grooves, melodic hooks, electronic elements, and a dark cinematic atmosphere. The band has accumulated tens of millions of streams with tracks including “Numb” and “Angel On The Outside.”

Throughout the group’s career, Reavis has collaborated with artists including Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch, Mudvayne vocalist Chad Gray, Gemini Syndrome’s Aaron Nordstrom, and his former Mushroomhead bandmate JMANN.

With “Blinding Lights” providing an unexpected glimpse at another side of the band, A Killer’s Confession are now preparing to close out their Victim trilogy when Victim 3 arrives this fall via MNRK Heavy.
