Finnish metal band Amorphis have revealed their 15th studio album, Borderland, set for release on September 26, 2025, via Reigning Phoenix Music. Announced today, May 26, 2025, the album marks a new chapter for the band, being their first collaboration with Danish producer Jacob Hansen. Guitarist Esa Holopainen shared, “Before that, we had made three amazing records at Jens Bogren’s studio. During the planning phase of the project, we strongly felt that it was time to explore something new and see what working with a different producer might bring to the table!” Formed in 1990, Amorphis—currently Tomi Joutsen (vocals), Holopainen and Tomi Koivusaari (guitars), Olli-Pekka Laine (bass), Santeri Kallio (keyboards), and Jan Rechberger (drums)—has evolved from death metal roots to a progressive, folk-infused sound, as seen in their 2022 album Halo.

The band also teased the first single, “Light And Shadow,” dropping on June 6, 2025, with more details to come. Fans can pre-save the track via amorphis.rpm.link/lightandshadow. Known for their poetic storytelling and atmospheric soundscapes, often inspired by Finnish mythology like the Kalevala, Amorphis promises a fresh yet signature experience with Borderland.
