Power metal spectacle Angus McSix have unveiled their latest single “Dig Down”, teaming up with German a cappella metal pioneers Van Canto for one of the most unconventional and entertaining tracks from their upcoming album Angus McSix and the All-Seeing Astral Eye.
Blending heroic power metal with Van Canto’s signature vocal-driven instrumentation, the track delivers a playful yet epic anthem that fits perfectly into the band’s over-the-top fantasy universe. Following the success of their debut Angus McSix and the Sword of Power, which cracked the Top 10 of the German album charts, the band returns with a new chapter in their absurdly epic saga. This time the story introduces Adam McSix (performed by Samuel Nyman of Manimal) as the new hero stepping into the spotlight.
The album continues the ongoing fantasy narrative, centered around the fate of legendary hero Angus McSix, who has been imprisoned in an icy block by the villainous Archdemon Seebulon (portrayed by Sebastian “Seeb” Levermann of Orden Ogan).
With Angus frozen, Adam must take up the sword and face the universe’s looming threats alongside a cast of eccentric heroes.
The Story Behind “Dig Down”
According to the band, the song takes place during a brief pause in the heroes’ journey at Ironpick Peak. Adam McSix begins teasing The Dwarf after assuming she has feelings for their companion Ork Zero. After enduring enough of the prince’s jokes, she attempts to summon barbarians from the realm of “Only Heroes” to teach him a lesson.
Instead, thanks to a misspelled request, the bards of Van Canto arrive, scolding Adam for his behavior before quickly realizing the song is simply too catchy not to join.
The result is a playful and unexpectedly massive collaboration that merges heroic power metal with layered vocal arrangements.
