West Coast death metal band ASCENDED DEAD have released their new live album, Live Apocalypse, through Carbonized Records. The eight-track recording captures the band’s performance during their American Apocalypse Tour in May 2024 and is available on CD, vinyl, cassette, and digital formats.
Recorded directly from the soundboard and subsequently mixed and mastered for release, Live Apocalypse documents the band’s live sound, combining material from their catalog with the aggressive, chaotic approach that has characterized their performances since their formation.
Live Apocalypse captures the band’s 2024 American tour
The album was recorded during ASCENDED DEAD‘s American Apocalypse Tour in May 2024, preserving the band’s performance without the controlled environment of a traditional studio recording.
According to the release announcement, the recording also represents a return to the Marshall amplifier sound associated with the band’s formative years.
The resulting live album draws from the musical direction established across their two full-length releases, Abhorrent Manifestation and Evenfall of the Apocalypse, emphasizing distorted guitars, rapid percussion, and the band’s primitive death metal influences.
The recording was engineered by Steven Jackson, mixed by Charlie Koryn, and mastered by Greg Wilkinson. The album artwork was created by Kyle Bowen.
From the Southern California underground to international stages
Formed in 2011, ASCENDED DEAD emerged from Southern California’s underground death metal scene, drawing inspiration from early recordings by POSSESSED, NECROVORE, and VENOM.
The band’s initial performances and underground releases established a musical direction rooted in the rawer and more chaotic elements of early death metal.
Their debut full-length album, Abhorrent Manifestation, arrived in 2017, introducing the group to a broader audience outside their regional scene.
As the band developed, its membership expanded geographically, with musicians based across Southern California and the Pacific Northwest.
In 2023, ASCENDED DEAD released their second studio album, Evenfall of the Apocalypse, continuing their approach to death metal through increasingly aggressive compositions and dense arrangements.
The band has maintained an extensive international touring schedule, including European tours in 2019, 2023, and 2024.
Following a full continental United States tour in 2024, ASCENDED DEAD expanded their international performances in 2025 with appearances throughout Southeast Asia and Australia.
Their festival history includes Maryland Deathfest, California Deathfest, Kill-Town Death Fest, Famine Fest, Covenant Fest, Total Death Over Mexico, Invoking Black Death Fest, Metal Magic, Chaos Descends, Mass Destruction, and Horrid Days Festival.
