Asheville, North Carolina’s Bask will release their fourth studio album, The Turning, on August 22nd through Season of Mist. The eight-track record blends the band’s self-described “Heavy Americana” with elements of psychedelic rock, folk, and sludge.
The album follows 2019’s III and was recorded at Echo Mountain Recording with producer Kenny Harrington. It features guest contributions from Clay White (trumpet), Franklin Keel (cello), and Alex Taub (piano, Hammond B3 organ). Mixing was handled by Andrew Schneider at Acre AudioMixing, and mastering by Alan Douches at West West Side Music.
Thematically, The Turning is a concept album centered around a character called “The Rider” and her encounters with “The Traveler,” an ageless gunslinger. Lyrical themes explore ideas of family, aging, death, and rebirth.
The latest single, The Traveler, is available to stream now, accompanied by a video that expands on the album’s conceptual narrative. Watch the video here:
The Turning will be released in digital, CD digipack, and 12” vinyl gatefold formats (black and transparent orange). Pre-orders and pre-saves are available at: https://orcd.co/basktheturning
