Indigenous solo black metal band Blackbraid has surprised fans with the announcement of a brand new EP, Nocturnal Womb, set for independent worldwide release this Friday, March 6.

In celebration, Blackbraid has partnered with Black Metal Promotion to premiere the new single “Celestial Bloodlust”, accompanied by a dynamic live performance video. Captured by Moshmallows during Blackbraid’s recent appearance at Kollektivet Livet Bar & Scen, the clip showcases the intensity of both the performance and the ravenous Swedish crowd.

“Nocturnal Womb” and “Celestial Bloodlust” were originally written during sessions for Blackbraid III, but were deemed too dark and visceral to fit within the album’s overarching trilogy narrative. Instead, they now exist as a standalone entity, raw, unfiltered, and untethered from the conceptual arc.

The EP also features an acoustic instrumental rendition of “Barefoot Ghost Dance on Blood Soaked Soil”, offering a stark and atmospheric reinterpretation of the track.

Sales and shipping begin today via the project’s official U.S. and EU webstores.

Nocturnal Womb Tracklist

  1. Nocturnal Womb (08:38)
  2. Celestial Bloodlust (04:34)
  3. Barefoot Ghost Dance on Blood Soaked Soil – Acoustic (06:54)

Blackbraid will headline a UK and Ireland run from April 9–15, joined by Winterfylleth and Noctem. Additional European festival appearances are also on the horizon.

Created by Sgah’gahsowáh from the depths of the Adirondack wilderness, Blackbraid continues to channel landscapes both physical and spiritual into music as raw and towering as the mountains themselves. With Nocturnal Womb, that vision only grows darker.
