Self-Titled Debut Album Arrives June 14
A new force emerges from the shadows.
Rick Giordano—the creative mind behind The Lion’s Daughter—returns with BLOOD MOTHER, a harrowing new project blending post-black metal ferocity with atmospheric depth and a distinctly Western Americana edge.
The project now reveals its latest single, “The Wound of Heaven,” a haunting and immersive track pulled from the upcoming self-titled debut, set for independent release on June 14.

Beauty in Ruin
“The Wound of Heaven” captures BLOOD MOTHER’s core duality—violent and hypnotic, chaotic yet strangely serene.
“It’s about finding beauty and comfort in watching a cruel and horrible world being torn apart,” Giordano explains. “The sky splits open and the destruction brings only serenity.”
Blending dark, synth-driven ambience with bursts of desperate black metal, the track channels themes of isolation, paranoia, and existential dread—delivered through Giordano’s commanding, unrelenting vocal performance.
A Reinvention Forged in Isolation
More than just a new project, BLOOD MOTHER represents a full creative rebirth.
“After 18 years of releasing music and touring the world, the daughter had to die so that the mother could live,” Giordano states.
While echoes of The Lion’s Daughter remain, BLOOD MOTHER expands into more cinematic territory—like the score to a personal horror film set against the desolate landscapes of the American heartland.
The self-titled debut features longtime collaborator Erik Ramsier on drums, with artwork by The Salamander King. The album was mixed by Ryan Wasoba and mastered by Joel Hatstat.
Fully Independent, Fully Unleashed
Operating entirely independently with support from Wolf Mountain Productions, BLOOD MOTHER rejects industry convention in favor of complete creative control.
“I’ve never made music that fits neatly into any category,” Giordano says. “So it makes sense to operate independently.”
That ethos bleeds into every aspect of the project—raw, uncompromising, and untethered.
