New York-based death metal band Castrator—Robin Mazen (bass), Carolina Perez (drums), Clarissa Badini (vocals), and Sara Loerlein (guitars)—will unleash their sophomore album, Coronation of the Grotesque, on August 15, 2025, through Dark Descent Records. Following their 2022 debut Defiled in Oblivion, the band has released the official music video for the track Covenant of Deceit, filmed by Immolation’s Bob Vigna, on June 18, 2025.

Pre-Order:
Drummer Carolina Perez calls the album “a leap forward,” describing it as “the strongest work we’ve done to date… refined, cohesive, and brutal.” The creative core of Perez and Mazen, bolstered by Badini’s vocals and new guitarist Sara Loerlein’s “killer” leads, drives the album’s ferocious sound. Lyrically, it tackles injustice and suffering, addressing topics like Mahsa Amini’s killing, ancient eunuchization, and predator Naasón Joaquín García, with Badini’s vocals amplifying the themes’ intensity.
Recorded across multiple studios, the album features contributions from death metal luminaries: bass engineered by John Tardy (Obituary) at Redneck Studios, guitars and vocals by Jordan Milner at Obsidian Audio, additional guitars by Taylor Nordberg (Deicide) at Smoke and Mirrors Productions, and drums by Noah Buchanan (Nunslaughter) at Mercinary Studios, who also mixed and mastered. Cover art is by Jon Zig.
