Dutch singer-songwriter CHARLOTTE WESSELS (ex-DELAIN) joins forces with Asger Mygind of VOLA for a stunning new collaboration, “Backup Plan”. Originally a bonus track on limited vinyl editions of The Obsession (2024), the song now steps into the spotlight as a full digital single ahead of the Deluxe Edition release of the album this Friday, October 24th, via Napalm Records.

A mesmerizing dialogue between life and death, “Backup Plan” blends Charlotte’s ethereal melancholy with Asger’s haunting tone, resulting in an emotional and cinematic performance. The track’s release also marks one year since The Obsession first captivated audiences and reunites the artists after touring together on VOLA’s Friend of a Phantom run in 2024.

“This song started as an outtake, but it never left me. Touring with VOLA revealed what it was missing — Asger’s voice. ‘Backup Plan’ became a conversation between life and the quiet pull of the unknown. Death, not as a villain, but as a gentle refuge.”
