LORD OF THE LOST frontman CHRIS HARMS has announced his second solo album, Aporia, set for release on January 22, 2027, via Napalm Records. Coinciding with Harms’ birthday, the deeply personal record follows his 2025 solo debut, 1980.

Alongside the announcement, HARMS has released the album’s first single, “Find What You Love And Let It Kill You.” Dark and atmospheric, the track explores the cost of pursuing something with complete passion and the possibility of ultimately being consumed by it.

While 1980 was built around Harms’ long-held ambition of creating an album entirely with 1980s-era equipment, Aporia moves into more contemporary electronic territory. The record incorporates modern electronics, synth-driven textures, industrial elements and eclectic soundscapes while deliberately distancing itself from both the sound of his debut and his work with LORD OF THE LOST.

Aporia also marks the first album Harms produced at his new rooms inside Boogie Park Studios in Hamburg after leaving Chameleon Studios in spring 2026.

The album takes its title from the Ancient Greek word “ἀπορία,” referring to a state of uncertainty or an apparently irresolvable problem. That concept is echoed in the VDPictures-created artwork, which features a Penrose Triangle — an impossible geometric object that visually represents the record’s themes of contradiction, uncertainty and perception.

Lyrically, Aporia finds HARMS confronting his past, including mistakes, consequences and relationships affected along the way. Rather than continuing the more extroverted ‘80s aesthetic of 1980, the new record takes a darker and more introspective direction.

Opening track “U† I†” (“You die, I die”) combines somber lyrics with a pulsing industrial backdrop, while “On A Dreamless Night” explores inner demons. Closing track “Dear Time” takes the form of a personal letter reflecting on past mistakes and the desire to somehow change their consequences.

The album also features three guest appearances. HOCICO/RABIA SORDA vocalist Erk Aicrag joins HARMS on “Skipped A Beat,” Ryan Shuck of JULIEN-K appears on “You Are Not What You See,” and Hamburg artist SWISS guests on “Hallo Depression,” the album’s only German-language track.

Aporia will be released digitally and across several physical configurations, including vinyl, CD and cassette editions. A limited box set will include a two-CD digisleeve, bonus CD, silver chain and three lenticular cards, while additional Napalm Records-exclusive vinyl editions will also be available.
