Swedish melodic metal band CyHra have released their fourth studio album, Requiem For A Pipe Dream, via Reigning Phoenix Music. Arriving during the band’s 10th anniversary era, the album marks a significant milestone for the group, which features members and alumni of some of modern metal’s most influential acts.
To coincide with the album’s release, CYHRA have unveiled a guitar playthrough video for the track “Venom In Me,” offering fans a closer look at the musicianship behind one of the record’s standout songs.
According to the band, “Venom In Me” explores the lingering effects of destructive influences and personal struggles.
“‘Venom In Me’ isn’t just about a person — it’s about anything that slowly poisons you while you’re trying to survive. It could be a relationship, a memory, an addiction, or even your own inner voice. It’s that force that keeps pulling you back into patterns you know aren’t healthy, but feel impossible to escape.”
The band further explains that the song examines how painful experiences can become embedded within a person, shaping identity and behavior long after the initial damage is done. Ultimately, the track centers on confronting those lingering wounds and deciding whether to overcome them or allow them to continue exerting control.
Founded in 2016 by vocalist Jake E and guitarist Jesper Strömblad, CYHRA quickly established themselves as a formidable force within the melodic metal landscape. Their lineup has featured musicians associated with acts including Amaranthe, The Halo Effect, Kamelot, The Crown, and Suburban Tribe.
Their debut album, Letters To Myself, arrived in 2017 and earned widespread praise, leading to international touring opportunities, including a North American run supporting Sabaton and Kreator. The band’s momentum continued with 2019’s No Halos In Hell, which featured the streaming hit “Out Of My Life,” and 2023’s The Vertigo Trigger.
Throughout their career, CYHRA have toured alongside artists such as Battle Beast, Delain, Smash Into Pieces, and Evergrey, while appearing at major festivals including Bloodstock Open Air and 70,000 Tons of Metal.

Now, with Requiem For A Pipe Dream, CYHRA continue to refine their signature blend of modern melodic metal, soaring hooks, and technical precision while embarking on the next chapter of their career.
