Cinematic progressive metal quintet DISCONNECTED SOULS have released a new guitar and bass playthrough video for “The Bystander,” a track originally by IYASHICORE, the anime-inspired electronic metal side project of DISCONNECTED SOULS vocalist Patrick Lloyd.

Filmed against a neon graffiti backdrop at Framework Studio in Manchester, UK, the playthrough features guitarists Matthew Simon Fletcher and Holly F. Royle alongside bassist Felix Luca King, showcasing the track’s intricate melodies, electronic textures and crushing heaviness.

King comments:

“If you’re going to listen to a track on repeat for multiple takes at various angles, it better be a good one — thankfully, IYASHICORE as usual delivers something you can’t help but get caught up in.”

“The Bystander” was originally written by Patrick Lloyd, Matthew Simon Fletcher and Holly F. Royle. The guitar and bass performance was filmed and produced by Tom Lloyd Media at Framework Studio.

Formed in 2018 and based in Chester, England, DISCONNECTED SOULS blend cinematic and progressive metal with classical and electronic influences. The band released their debut EP, Warring Elements, in 2020, followed by a series of singles leading to their debut full-length album, Fragments of Consciousness, in January 2024.

The group closed out 2024 with “Endless Winter” and returned in 2025 with “Spectral,” featuring guest vocalist Jessie Powell of DREAM STATE.

DISCONNECTED SOULS consists of Matthew Simon Fletcher, Holly F. Royle, Patrick Lloyd, Felix Luca King and Tim Jenkins.
