Arizona trap metal band DROPOUT KINGS have released the official music video for “Deadname,” a track from their latest album, Yokai. The release continues the band’s tribute to late frontman Adam Ramey, who passed away on May 19, 2025, at the age of 32.
The video combines neon-soaked visuals, flashing colors, and underground imagery, complementing the track’s emotional intensity and the band’s signature fusion of nu-metal, hip-hop, and heavy grooves.
Speaking about the song, vocalist Black Cat Bill shares:
“Some songs you sing, others you let the spirits speak through you. This is ‘Deadname.’”
Yokai holds particular significance in the band’s history as the final album featuring Ramey, who completed work on the record shortly before his passing. The album captures the musical identity he helped establish, combining aggressive instrumentation, rap-driven vocals, and deeply personal songwriting.
Following its release, DROPOUT KINGS brought together current and former members for a series of performances celebrating Ramey’s life and legacy.
The band previously described Yokai as their greatest dedication to their late friend and bandmate, reflecting the ambition, struggles, and determination that defined their journey together.
Formed in Phoenix, Arizona, DROPOUT KINGS have built their reputation through an energetic combination of metal and hip-hop, with tracks such as “Virus” earning recognition on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock charts.
DROPOUT KINGS will return to Europe in April 2027, joining GHØSTKID, SEVEN BLOOD, and STAIN THE CANVAS for a run of shows across the continent and the United Kingdom.
The current DROPOUT KINGS lineup consists of Black Cat Bill (vocals), Rob Sebastian (vocals), Chucky Guzman (guitar), and The Cowboy Drummer (drums).
