Swedish melodic power metal band DYNAZTY have signed with Napalm Records and announced their tenth studio album, Dark Arts, scheduled for release on March 5, 2027. Alongside the announcement, the band have unveiled the official music video for “The Mission,” the first single from the upcoming record.
Following their previous album, Game of Faces, DYNAZTY continue to develop their combination of melodic heavy metal and power metal. Their forthcoming release features twelve tracks divided into two conceptual acts, exploring the darker aspects of human nature while examining themes of resilience, self-discovery, and hope.
Speaking about their new partnership with Napalm Records, the band commented:
“We are greatly excited about joining forces with Napalm Records for this next phase of DYNAZTY. A label and team that understands this band and shows real enthusiasm and willingness to invest time, effort, and muscle into it is exactly what we have been looking for for a long time! We’re off to a great start already with Dark Arts and can’t wait to keep going!”
The album’s lead single, “The Mission,” showcases the band’s melodic approach, combining driving guitar riffs, prominent keyboards, and anthemic choruses with the powerful vocals of frontman Nils Molin, who also performs with AMARANTHE.
Discussing the song, DYNAZTY explained:
“‘The Mission’ is a song about the relentless nature of the human spirit to overcome obstacles and insurmountable hardships. One of the first songs we wrote for the album and a great first showing of the album Dark Arts — ‘The Mission’ is a DYNAZTY anthem we feel strongly for. Enjoy and stay tuned for a whole lot more!”
A Conceptual Journey Through Dark Arts
The upcoming album is structured around two distinct acts, Descent and Ascent, representing a journey into the darker corners of the human psyche and the eventual emergence from that darkness.
The opening act begins with “Lay Down The Law,” introducing the album’s energetic direction through powerful melodies and prominent guitar work. The title track, “Dark Arts,” follows with a combination of fast-paced instrumentation and nostalgic melodic elements, while “Valkyrie” and “Red Herring” emphasize the band’s ability to balance memorable hooks with heavier arrangements.
The first half concludes with “Call On Me” and “The Unraveling,” two compositions that introduce a more emotional dimension to the album.
The second act opens with “Mirror of the Soul,” marking the beginning of the album’s conceptual ascent. Songs such as “The Mission” and “Shadow of the Abyss” maintain the record’s energetic approach, while “Candlelight Mysteria” incorporates fantastical storytelling. The album concludes with “Dark Matter,” a composition that develops from a symphonic introduction into an expansive finale.
Reflecting on the creative process, the band revealed that writing Dark Arts while touring in support of Game of Faces pushed them to their limits.
“We set out with a clear goal when writing Dark Arts. And in the efforts and quest of creating the most all-encompassing and ultimate DYNAZTY experience and album yet, we drove ourselves further than we’ve ever done before, close to the brink of exhaustion and literal madness while touring for Game Of Faces concurrently with writing this one.”
The band also highlighted the deluxe edition, which includes two additional songs and artwork by Péter Sallai.
