Faroese artist EIVØR has announced her new studio album, Tungl, set for release on October 16. The album title, meaning “moon” in Faroese, represents a new chapter in the artist’s evolving musical journey, exploring themes of transformation, intuition, resilience, and the cycles of life.
Alongside the announcement, EIVØR has released the album’s latest single, “Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden,” accompanied by a cinematic music video filmed in Svínadalur, Iceland, and directed by Krassasig (Kristinn Arnar Sigurðsson).
Describing the song, EIVØR explains that “Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden” is a tribute to the inner strength and intuitive force found within everyone. Beginning as a poem, the track was completed with poet Marjun S. Kjelnæs and developed into a song about surrendering control, embracing uncertainty, and trusting life’s unfolding path.
Produced and recorded with Tróndur Bogason and her band, the track blends movement and stillness, combining playful rhythms and danceable elements with an underlying sense of melancholy.
The accompanying video was filmed over two days in Iceland’s Svínadalur landscape and features a custom-built rotating platform designed specifically for the performance. The concept transforms the physical movement of the performer into a visual representation of the song’s themes of surrender and transformation.
“Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden” follows the previously released single “Healer” and offers the first full glimpse into Tungl, an album that continues EIVØR’s exploration of rock, folk, electronica, and atmospheric Nordic soundscapes.
