PSYCROPTIC have unveiled the video for “Ashes Of A New Dawn,” the final single from their upcoming album The Pulse Of Annihilation, which arrives July 17 via Metal Blade Records.
The new track continues the Tasmanian technical death metal veterans’ evolution, pairing intricate musicianship with a more refined songwriting approach. Bassist Todd Stern described the song as one that builds vivid imagery, beginning with a slow, atmospheric introduction before erupting into relentless aggression.
“It’s aggressive as fuck but it’s also like a party song,” Stern said. “Great moments of intensity, all in good fun.”
Vocalist Jason Peppiatt revealed that the lyrics serve as a sequel to “Ashes Of Our Empire” from the band’s 2022 album Divine Council, while crediting guitarist Joe Haley for the song’s riff-driven foundation.
Produced around Haley’s increasingly focused songwriting, The Pulse Of Annihilation balances the band’s trademark technical complexity with stronger dynamics and compositional restraint. The album once again features the dual vocal attack of Jason Peppiatt and Jason Keyser (Origin), whose contrasting styles add another dimension to the band’s intricate arrangements.
Ahead of the album’s release, PSYCROPTIC will host a full-album YouTube stream with a live chat on July 16, followed by a Reddit AMA on July 17 celebrating the release.
