New Jersey symphonic metal band EVERDAWN have announced their new studio album, Kali, scheduled for release on January 15, 2027, through Frontiers Music Srl. The band has also unveiled the first single and accompanying music video, “Illusionist,” offering an introduction to the album’s combination of symphonic arrangements and progressive metal influences.
The new single explores the destructive consequences of unchecked ambition, examining how the pursuit of power, recognition, and success can compromise personal morality.
Discussing the song’s lyrical concept, EVERDAWN explained:
“‘Illusionist’ portrays a dark reflection on the destructive nature of boundless ambition, where pursuit of power, recognition, and success erases the boundaries between right and wrong.”
The band further described the track as a story about deception and the eventual consequences of placing personal achievement above ethical considerations. Its central message examines how the appearance of success can conceal destructive behavior until the truth is exposed.
Kali explores mythology, destruction, and renewal
The upcoming album expands EVERDAWN‘s symphonic and progressive metal approach through twelve compositions exploring mythology, human existence, and the relationship between creation and destruction.
According to the band, Kali draws inspiration from ancient myths and philosophical questions surrounding mortality, spiritual awakening, betrayal, and the passage of time.
EVERDAWN commented on the album’s concept:
“Our third album, ‘Kali,’ takes listeners on a journey through creation, destruction, and the darker side of existence. It explores the fragile nature of life, the mysteries of the universe, and the forces that shape the human soul.”
The band explained that the material references Shiva’s eternal dance, the eventual end of the universe, and the idea that even seemingly permanent structures and powers are subject to change.
Beyond its mythological themes, the album also addresses personal struggles, including overcoming adversity, recognizing deception, and finding the determination to recover from difficult experiences.
Musically, Kali combines melodic guitar arrangements, layered keyboards, and progressive structures with the band’s established symphonic metal foundations.
Vocalist Alina Gavrilenko leads the compositions, supported by guitarist Richard Fischer, keyboardist Boris Zaks, and drummer Dan Prestup.
The album also features bassist Mike LePond of SYMPHONY X, whose contributions add another connection to the progressive metal scene.
Kali was mixed and mastered by producer Jacob Hansen, whose previous credits include VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, EPICA, and EVERGREY.

From MIDNIGHT ETERNAL to EVERDAWN
The band’s history dates back to 2014, when the project was formed in New Jersey under the name MIDNIGHT ETERNAL.
Following the release of their self-titled debut, the group toured across North America and Europe alongside QUEENSRŸCHE and THERION.
Subsequent lineup changes and the arrival of vocalist Alina Gavrilenko led to the adoption of the EVERDAWN name.
The band released Cleopatra in 2021 and later supported MICHAEL SCHENKER on a European tour. Their next album, Venera, arrived in December 2023 through Frontiers Music Srl.
With Kali, EVERDAWN continue developing their combination of symphonic arrangements, progressive instrumentation, and mythology-inspired songwriting.
