American thrash metal band Flotsam and Jetsam have announced their new studio album, Rats In The Temple, set for release on August 28 via Napalm Records.

Pre-orders are available now:
Pre-Order Rats In The Temple

After nearly four decades of relentless thrash metal dominance, the Arizona veterans continue their modern resurgence following acclaimed releases such as The End of Chaos (2019) and I Am the Weapon (2024). The band’s latest effort channels the spirit of classic albums like Doomsday for the Deceiver and No Place for Disgrace while pushing their sound forward with renewed ferocity.

Rats In The Temple features 13 tracks, Lyrically, the album explores themes of death, betrayal, abuse, war, and human darkness, presenting a grim reflection of the modern world.

Eric A.K. Knutson commented on the new record:

“This record is a BEAST, truly our best effort to date!! Do yourself a favor. Dim the lights, grab a drink, put the headphones on, and crank this up. You will not be sorry you did!!!”

The album launches with the aggressive and hook-laden tracks “Harvesting The Hate” and “Damnation,” before diving deeper into technical thrash territory on “Absolution.” Guitarists Michael Gilbert and Steve Conley deliver intricate riff work throughout songs like “Blame The Knife” and the title track, while rhythm section Ken Mary and William Bodily drive the anti-war anthem “A Taste For War” with militaristic precision.

From first-wave thrash influences to modern metallic intensity, Rats In The Temple showcases a band still evolving while remaining true to the sound that made them icons of the genre.
