Shock rock legends GWAR have joined forces with iconic horror host Joe Bob Briggs for GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, a new collaborative album arriving November 13, 2026, via Pit Records. The release celebrates more than four decades of GWAR’s intergalactic chaos and 40 years of Briggs’ career as a television film critic, commentator, and entertainer.
To mark the announcement, GWAR has unleashed the new single “Splatter-Fu,” written specifically for the band by John Brennan. The track arrives alongside an official music video, delivering the kind of outrageous horror-inspired entertainment that has defined both GWAR and Briggs throughout their careers.
The collaboration brings together two institutions of cult entertainment, combining GWAR’s theatrical heavy metal mayhem with the irreverent humor and exploitation cinema legacy of The Last Drive-In.
Speaking about the upcoming release, GWAR vocalist Blothar shared his enthusiasm in typically outrageous fashion:
“Lordy Lordy, look who’s 40! GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs. A match made in hell! I love horror movies, trash, and funny spooky stuff. GWAR wouldn’t exist without it.”
Joe Bob Briggs added:
“To create the real spirit of Halloween, I called up my buddies – the intergalactic warriors who live in Antarctica – and I asked them to bring some fear, some filth, and some fun.”
A monstrous collaboration
GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein brings together performances from GWAR and John Brennan and the Bigfeet, the house band of The Last Drive-In.
The album’s first side features GWAR’s live performance from The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special, including original material and covers of songs associated with Briggs’ long-running horror program.
Side B showcases John Brennan and the Bigfeet performing music written for the show’s final two seasons. The collection represents the group’s third official soundtrack release connected to The Last Drive-In.
The album will be available on vinyl through Pit Records.
