Shock rock band GWAR are celebrating their 40th anniversary with the release of their new single, “The Great Circus Train Disaster,” the second track from their multimedia project The Return of Gor Gor, out July 25, 2025, via Pit Records and Z2 Comics. The single, accompanied by a gloriously unhinged animated video, delivers GWAR’s signature blend of thrashy punk metal and depraved humor, depicting a catastrophic circus train derailment complete with flaming elephants, twisted clowns, and an ill-fated cotton candy vendor.

The Return of Gor Gor is a multi-format assault featuring three new studio tracks mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge, GodCity Studios), four live tracks recorded at The Masquerade in Atlanta during GWAR’s 2024 tour (mixed by Chris Ronan Murphy), and a 32-page comic detailing the return of GWAR’s long-lost, three-ton Tyrannosaurus Rex, Gor Gor. All songs were produced by GWAR and mastered by Alan Douches. The comic, included with all versions, follows Gor Gor’s journey as an orphaned T-Rex cub navigating a depraved world, questioning whether he’ll ally with the Scumdogs of the Universe or spark an apocalyptic clash.
Vocalist Blöthar the Berserker adds: “The last time I saw Gor Gor, he was just a wee fart dragon. He had crawled on the hood of my Kia Soul and was holding on for dear life while I drove to the store to buy Clamato. I bathed him in wiper fluid and used my wipers to knock him off my sweet ride. Next thing I know, he’s a 20-foot tall trans-species prostitute working a pickle park. Apparently, he’s all grown up and looking for revenge. This record chronicles his struggles as a young Dino-American trying to make his way in a cruel world.”
