Czech black metal project Draugveil released their debut album, Cruel World of Dreams and Fears, on June 13, 2025, independently, as detailed on their Bandcamp page and Encyclopaedia Metallum. The album, a 31-minute, 10-track offering, showcases a raw and atmospheric black metal sound with elements of dungeon synth.
Draugveil is a one-person project based in the Czech Republic, with the sole member, Draugveil, handling all writing, composition, recording, and mixing for the album. The project draws on traditional black metal influences, delivering a sound that evokes themes of regret, lost dreams, and desolate landscapes, as noted in various web sources. The closing track, When Silence Became My Kingdom, incorporates dungeon synth elements reminiscent of early Mortiis, adding a nostalgic and haunting atmosphere.

The tracklist includes:
- Knight Without a Name
- Moonlit Resurrection
- Griefmarch
- My Sword Points to the Past
- Wolves Feast on Forgotten Dreams
- Etched Oath
- Soiltear (with Selvnatt)
- Beneath the Armor I Rot
- Vortex
- When Silence Became My Kingdom
Cruel World of Dreams and Fears is available for streaming and purchase on Bandcamp, Spotify, Deezer, and other digital platforms. The album premiered last week via Black Metal Promotion.
