INSOMNIUM have released the official music video for their new single, “Gleam in the Black,” offering another look into the haunting world of their forthcoming tenth studio album, Netherworlds, due out on October 16.
One of the faster-paced tracks on the record, “Gleam in the Black” pairs soaring melodies with the band’s trademark melodic death metal intensity. According to vocalist and bassist Niilo Sevänen, the song captures the classic INSOMNIUM spirit while telling a dark and mysterious love story that reflects the overall mood of the album.
“Being one of the faster songs on the new album, this is a track that should get the crowd moving when played live,” says Sevänen. “The lyrics tell a dark and mysterious love story, capturing the mood and atmosphere of the entire album. We are doomed to wander the nightly woods, searching for something lost long ago, something we can reach only in our dreams. That single gleam of light amidst the blackness.”
Directed and produced by Patric Ullaeus of rEvolver Film Company AB, the accompanying video complements the song’s cinematic atmosphere with visuals that mirror its themes of longing, darkness, and fleeting hope.
“Gleam in the Black” follows the previously released single “Shadowlife” and further showcases the emotional depth and expansive songwriting featured throughout Netherworlds. The album was produced by Miiro Varjus, marking a new production chapter for the Finnish band, while mixing and mastering were handled by longtime collaborators Jens Bogren and Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios.
Netherworlds will be available in multiple formats, including deluxe 2CD editions, several limited-edition colored vinyl variants, standard black vinyl, CD, and digital formats.
Following a series of summer festival appearances, INSOMNIUM will embark on an extensive world tour. The band will headline dates across Finland this fall before joining AMORPHIS and UNTO OTHERS for a European tour beginning in January 2027.
