Brazilian progressive metal band Jack The Joker, formed in an unknown year in Northeast Brazil, has announced their debut album The Devil To Pay In The Backlands, set for release on August 22, 2025, via Frontiers Music Srl. The third single, Devir, accompanied by a lyric video, explores “the lament of a man who’s lived the backlands to the bone… where pain is law and faith is just a question carried by the wind.” Watch it at:
The band, featuring Raphael Joer (vocals), Felipe Facó and Lucas Colares (guitars), Gustavo Pinheiro (bass), and Vicente Ferreira (drums), infuses maracatu, forró, baião, and frevo into their sound, drawing inspiration from the Brazilian novel of the same name. Produced by Adair Daufembach (Angra), the album blends technical metal with cultural authenticity, following singles Denied and Sun.
