German melodic hard rock veterans MAD MAX have announced their new studio album, Stories Of Destiny, set for release on September 4, 2026, via ROAR, a division of Reigning Phoenix Music. Marking the band’s 45th anniversary, the album celebrates their legacy while introducing a new era with vocalist Alan Clark.
Coinciding with the announcement, MAD MAX have released the album’s first single, “Silver,” accompanied by an official music video that expands on the storyline introduced in the band’s recently released comic series.
Guitarist and founder Jürgen Breforth explained that “Silver” has a long history within his songwriting catalog:
“The song was originally written in 2001 for the debut album of Michael Schenker Group singer Gary Barden, and it was a huge honor to co-write it with Andreas Broon. I always felt that ‘Silver’ had the potential to be a major hit single. Now I’m proud to finally present the MAD MAX version, with a slightly heavier guitar edge while still keeping its British melodic touch through our new lead singer Alan Clark.”
Founded in Münster, Germany, in 1981, MAD MAX have remained one of Europe’s longest-running melodic hard rock bands, building an international following through decades of albums, touring, and festival appearances. Stories Of Destiny reflects both the band’s history and its future by combining newly recorded material with previously unreleased songs and collaborations featuring respected figures from the rock and metal community.
The album includes songs co-written with musicians such as Sascha Gerstner (HELLOWEEN), David Readman (PINK CREAM 69), Andreas Broon, and producer Michael Voss. Among its highlights are two previously unreleased MAD MAX songs dating back to 1991—“Weapons Of Love” and ”’Til The End Of Time.”
Another standout is “Piece Of Candy,” a newly recorded version built around the very first guitar riff Jürgen Breforth wrote for MAD MAX in 1981. The track features a duet between new vocalist Alan Clark and original singer Andreas Baesler, who makes his first appearance with the band in 45 years. The album also includes “Dulces Falsos,” the band’s first song performed in Spanish, dedicated to its growing Latin American fanbase.
Visually, Stories Of Destiny continues the narrative established by the official MAD MAX comic illustrated by Mexican artist Maestro Arturo Said, chronicling the band’s journey from its formation in 1981 through its performances in Colombia in 2023.
