Drawing from H. P. Lovecraft’s classic Herbert West–Reanimator and its 1985 cult film adaptation Re-Animator, the EP chronicles the macabre descent into scientific madness across four harrowing chapters.
Opening track Serum of Life gives voice to the deranged scientist’s obsession with conquering death itself, while Better Left Dead shifts to the undead’s vengeful perspective. The devastating Verdict closes the tale with the ultimate reckoning, and the bonus track Witches – A Tribute to Dario Argento’s Suspiria (feat. Tenebro) seals the EP in an atmosphere of giallo-inspired dread.
Fueled by gruesome riffs, cavernous growls, and a distinctly Italian horror aesthetic, Better Left Dead unites Lovecraftian mythos with old-school death metal brutality, echoing the likes of Obituary, Malevolent Creation, and Morbid Angel.
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Giovanni Pezzato at Alter Recording Studio (Treviso), the EP features haunting artwork by Simone Faggian (thegarbagekid), a sinister logo by View From The Coffin, and spectral photography by Giorgio Silvestri.
