Entirely conceived and executed by Colby, Liminal Erosion explores a kaleidoscopic dimension of death doom—an expansive, crushing vision marked by sorrowful melodies, glacial tempos, and shimmering textures. Colby describes the project as an attempt to fulfill a long-held creative desire:
“This project started accidentally, although I’ve always had a love for Funeral and Death Doom. The vision evolved into something larger in scope, something more profound… the sound of Death Doom but more kaleidoscopic, with lyrics to match. Mostly, I intended to create something in this genre which satisfies all my desires of the sound, which previously hadn’t been properly fulfilled by other progenitors to my satisfaction. And thus we have Liminal Erosion.”
Lyrically, Colby steps away from traditional narrative perspectives, instead channeling abstract perceptions. This approach, combined with his spectral riffing and bleak atmospherics, expands into death doomgaze, pushing beyond the genre’s already ambiguous parameters.
In the Time Vulture’s Talons was entirely recorded, performed, mixed, and mastered by Colby himself. The visual dimension comes courtesy of GrusomeGraphx (artwork and logo) and Ryan Bonner / Bringmecreatures (photography).
