Horrifier have announced their second full-length album, Revelations of Gore, set for release on August 7 via Personal Records (CD format internationally). Alongside the announcement, the band has unveiled the first track from the record: “Compelled to Slaughter.”
Listen to the first track: “Compelled to Slaughter”
The track continues the band’s commitment to raw, old-school death metal aesthetics—unfiltered, abrasive, and intentionally primitive.
Album concept: descent into obsession and ritual
Revelations of Gore is framed as a conceptual story centered on a dying man who encounters a supernatural entity offering immortality—at the cost of human sacrifice. As the narrative unfolds:
- Desperation becomes dependency
- Survival turns into obsession
- Moral collapse gives way to ritualized violence
The album tracks this transformation through escalating brutality and increasingly suffocating atmosphere.
Sound and direction
Musically, Horrifier stay firmly rooted in the lineage of early death metal, channeling influences from bands like Autopsy, Entombed, and Repulsion
The production is intentionally organic and raw, emphasizing:
- Bludgeoning riff work
- Primitive, relentless drumming
- Cavernous vocals
- Occasional slow, oppressive passages to heighten dread
Rather than modern polish, the focus is on atmosphere, decay, and intensity.
