UK black metal project Oakenthrone has released their new single, “Litany of Proper Death,” today, May 12, 2025. The track, a 6:53 epic blending atmospheric black metal with doom and funeral doom elements, is available for streaming or purchase on Bandcamp at oaken-throne.bandcamp.com, as well as on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. Following their 2024 EP Embers of Reverie, which embraced a “grim and grandiose” tone, this single continues Oakenthrone’s evolution, featuring haunting synths, pulverizing riffs, and raw vocals, as noted in fan reactions to their earlier demos. The cover art, photographed by S. Nagington at Scarborough Castle, complements the track’s desolate atmosphere, with layout design also by Nagington and a new logo by Vojta of Moonroot Logos.

Oakenthrone, a solo project by S. Nagington based in Northwest England, also announced their performance at the Call of the Crow 2025 festival, set for October 10-12 in Manchester, UK, alongside acts like Fen and Abduction. Tickets are available at necrowevents.bigcartel.com/product/call-of-the-crow-2025. For fans of Empyrium or early Ulver, this release offers a chilling addition to the UKBM scene.
