Sacramento’s funeral doom duo OROMET announce the release of their stunning and immersive second full-length, The Sinking Isle, due November 7th through Hypaethral Records. The record finds the band expanding their signature sound, where melody and melancholy intertwine—into even darker, more intricate territory.

Formed in 2022 by Dan Aguilar (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Hills (drums, bass, synth, backing vocals), OROMET has quickly earned recognition for crafting music that’s both monumental and deeply emotive. Their self-titled debut established them as a force within modern funeral doom, weaving transcendent harmonies through waves of crushing atmosphere.
With The Sinking Isle, Aguilar and Hills delve deeper into themes of decay, rebirth, and the cyclical nature of ruin. The duo describes the record as “a natural progression from our debut… the instrumentation is denser and more intricate, while the climactic moments resonate with greater power and grandeur.”
The album’s visual identity once again draws on the paintings of fantasy artist Ted Nasmith, whose artwork mirrors the band’s lyrical and sonic philosophy. Where their debut looked toward transcendence, The Sinking Isle turns inward, toward collapse, reflection, and the melancholy beauty found within decline.
The first single, “Forsaken Tarn”, captures this duality perfectly. The band explains:
“The track is about self-reflection and learning from the mistakes of our ancestors. Much of the wisdom we gain from our elders comes from recognizing the paths that led to their ruin. As we look to the past, we must take care not to let reflection transform into rumination, lest we lose sight of our own path.”
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Hills at Earthtone Recording Company, The Sinking Isle will be available on CD (Ltd. 300), digital, and vinyl in the following variants:
