Rising modern rock duo CLOCKTOWERS have released their electrifying new single, “Bend the Snake”, a hypnotic and emotionally charged preview of their forthcoming debut full-length album, Genesis. Blending the soul of 70s rock with the power and precision of modern metal, CLOCKTOWERS continue to defy expectations and carve out a sound that is entirely their own.
Watch “Bend the Snake”:
From the moment the opening guitars intertwine, “Bend the Snake” commands attention with its intricate dual riffs, building into a serpentine groove that fuses mysticism and muscle. The rhythm section flows with precision, smooth basslines and crisp percussion pulse beneath Tarek Puska’s commanding baritone, his vocals delivering every line with a sense of authority and depth. The chorus explodes in a swirl of melody and grit, bridging the swagger of 70s hard rock with the intensity of modern heaviness.
Midway through, the track takes an exhilarating detour into classic rock territory reminiscent of Free and Bad Company, showcasing CLOCKTOWERS’ mastery of dynamics and their effortless balance between darkness and light.
Lyrically, “Bend the Snake”, written by Dakota Logan, dives into philosophical themes, illusion, reality, and the unseen forces that twist the world around us. It’s a song about confronting deception, both internal and external, and the courage to see beyond the surface.
Hailing from Reily, Ohio, CLOCKTOWERS is the creative partnership of Tarek Puska (vocals) and Dakota Logan (multi-instrumentalist). Though officially formed in 2022, their musical connection began years earlier in a previous metal band that spent half a decade on the road. Fate reunited them years later — not in a studio or club, but at a local pizza joint, where a casual conversation led to a jam session and the creation of their first song, “Spirit Junkie”.
From that moment, CLOCKTOWERS was reborn. Over the next two years, Tarek and Dakota met multiple times a week, building Genesis from the ground up in a self-made home studio. The album reflects their creative chemistry and duality, Tarek’s veteran edge and classic metal roots meet Dakota’s youthful fire and experimental vision. Their 25-year age gap fuels a rare balance: old-school authenticity colliding with new-school innovation.
Musically, CLOCKTOWERS channel the energy of AC/DC, the doom-laden weight of Black Sabbath, the dramatic darkness of Type O Negative, and the cinematic theatricality of Ghost. Add to that the riff-driven muscle of Metallica and the swagger of KISS, and you begin to understand the scope of their sound, though the band insists on doing more than simply echoing their heroes. They reshape familiar influences into something deeply personal and alive.
Genesis is both a debut and a declaration, a bold statement of intent. Each song captures a different emotional dimension of the human experience, from introspection and loss to empowerment and transformation.
The track “Ashes” features guest appearances from Jason Viebrooks (Heathen, Grip Inc., Exhorder) on bass and guitar, and Todd J. Farler on drums, the only song on the record to feature outside musicians. Every other note, riff, and lyric was performed and produced by the duo themselves.
“We wanted to make something real”, says Logan. “No filler, no overproduction — just raw, honest music. Genesis is the sound of two people giving everything they have to every note.”
