Swedish heavy metal veterans RAM have unveiled the official music video for “Against,” the title track from their latest studio album, available now through Metal Blade Records.
Driven by raw energy, traditional heavy metal riffs, and an uncompromising attitude, “Against” captures the band’s dedication to the classic sound that has defined their career. The song was written during a sudden burst of inspiration, drawing from the experience of confronting overwhelming opposition and refusing to surrender.
Vocalist Oscar Carlquist comments:
“‘Against’ is a real belter of a track, super old school. This is not your fresh 2026 MacBook metal; this is straight from the gutter. The lyrics are pure defiance, a tale about not backing down.”
RAM embrace the spirit of classic heavy metal
While their previous album, The Throne Within, explored spiritual and metaphysical themes, Against takes a more direct approach, focusing on resistance, determination, and standing firm against adversity.
Musically, the album draws inspiration from the early recordings of DIO, MSG, and SWEET, favoring an organic production style over modern studio polish.
Guitarists Harry Granroth and Martin Jonsson maintain the band’s signature sharp guitar tone, delivering driving riffs and twin-guitar harmonies rooted in traditional heavy metal.
The songwriting also reflects a more focused approach, emphasizing memorable hooks and straightforward arrangements without sacrificing intensity.
As the band declares:
“Fear the return of the Heavy Metal Tyranny!”
