Canadian melodic death metallers DUNGEON SERPENT has released its new single, “Tranquil Sleep Of The Dead, Eternal Seas Aflame,” offering another preview of the upcoming sophomore album, Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms, arriving October 30, 2026, via Profound Lore Records.
The Vancouver-based project returns five years after its debut, World Of Sorrows, with a more ambitious approach to its distinctive blend of melodic death metal, atmospheric arrangements, and extreme metal influences.
Featuring six compositions, Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms expands upon the foundation established by its predecessor, incorporating elements of black metal, brutal death metal, grindcore, and orchestral arrangements while maintaining the project’s dark melodic identity.
Multi-instrumentalist Arawn, who handles vocals, guitars, keyboards, and bass, is joined by drummer Bhraonáin (FAKE DUST) and violinist Anju Singh (THE NAUSEA). The expanded instrumentation introduces additional layers of atmosphere and complexity, balancing aggressive riffs with melodic passages and sweeping keyboard arrangements.
Discussing the new single, Arawn explains:
“This is of a similar archetype to ‘Cosmic Sorcery’ from the first record. Slightly more ‘positive’ in tone and with more of a calm and repetitive structure in general.”
Despite its comparatively restrained atmosphere, the track retains the project’s death metal roots, drawing inspiration from bands such as IMMOLATION, ABSU, and MALEFICARUM.
The song also features guest guitar solos from Brandon and Jeremy of GYIBAAW, while Shawn of MITOCHONDRION contributes acoustic guitars to its opening section.

Lamentations Of The Shadowkingdoms was mixed and mastered by Damian Herring (HORRENDOUS) at Subterranean Watchtower Studios, with artwork created by Marc Potts.
The album will be available on vinyl, CD, and digital platforms beginning October 30 through Profound Lore Records.
