Technical death metallers REVOCATION have released an official video for “Data Corpse,” a track taken from the band’s latest full-length, New Gods, New Masters, released last year via Metal Blade Records.

The new video arrives as REVOCATION celebrate their 20th anniversary on the month-long 20 Years of Torment North American headlining tour alongside DEFEATED SANITY, FUMING MOUTH, and WEEPING.

A Cyberpunk Nightmare

“Data Corpse” tackles the erosion of online privacy and the monetization of personal information by social media companies.

“‘Data Corpse’ is about social media companies constantly scouring our personal lives for profit,” vocalist and guitarist Dave Davidson explains. “We unwittingly give up more and more of ourselves every year just to be sold a shinier pair of shoes, all until what’s left of our private lives is picked to the bone.”

For the accompanying video, REVOCATION once again teamed up with the crew at MyGoodEye, transforming Davidson into a grotesque mutant cyborg.

“My transformation into a mutant cyborg was influenced by a lot of the imagery that originated in classic cyberpunk films like Tetsuo and Akira,” Davidson adds. “Enjoy the dystopian grotesqueries.”

20 Years of REVOCATION

REVOCATION kicked off their 20 Years of Torment tour on September 10, marking two decades of the band with a career-spanning set featuring classics, deep cuts, and newer material.

“We’re excited to be able to embark on our 20th anniversary tour with such a sick lineup of bands,” Davidson says. “We’ll be playing our latest single, ‘Data Corpse,’ live for the first time across the US and Canada alongside some classics and deep cuts from our entire discography to celebrate this milestone with our fans. See you in the pit!”

The remaining dates take the tour across Canada and the United States before concluding October 10 at Underground Arts in Philadelphia.

New Gods, New Masters

Released via Metal Blade Records, New Gods, New Masters features nine tracks that lean into crushing riffs and grooves while retaining the technical precision that has defined REVOCATION’s sound.

The album was produced by Davidson and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, known for his work with THE HAUNTED and SPIRITBOX. Artwork was created by Paolo Girardi.

The record also features an extensive roster of guests, including Jonny Davy of JOB FOR A COWBOY, Travis Ryan of CATTLE DECAPITATION, Luc Lemay of GORGUTS, and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman.

With New Gods, New Masters representing the latest chapter in their catalog and the 20 Years of Torment tour revisiting material from throughout their career, REVOCATION are marking their 20th anniversary by bringing both eras together on stages across North America.
