Los Angeles-based melodic death metal band THROWN INTO EXILE have released their new single, “Remorse,” featuring a guest guitar solo from ARCH ENEMY guitarist Michael Amott. The track is available now through BLKIIBLK and arrives alongside an official music video.
The single marks THROWN INTO EXILE‘s second release through the label and offers another preview of the band’s upcoming material planned for 2027.
Combining aggressive guitar riffs with melodic passages, “Remorse” reflects the band’s blend of American and European metal influences. The recording also features a guitar collaboration between Amott and THROWN INTO EXILE guitarist Mario Rubio.
A personal reflection on regret and sacrifice
According to the band, “Remorse” examines the emotional consequences of investing time and energy into something that ultimately leads back to the starting point.
The lyrics address past decisions, missed opportunities, and the difficulty of carrying unresolved regrets.
THROWN INTO EXILE explained:
“‘Remorse (feat. Michael Amott)’ is a personal song that deals with how much of yourself you are willing to give to something that only results in being where you started and the emotional weight that comes with that, past mistakes, things that could have been handled better and carrying that with you.”
The track continues the band’s development following the addition of 27-year-old vocalist Joshua Santos, whose arrival has become part of a new chapter in THROWN INTO EXILE‘s lineup and musical direction.
Michael Amott joins THROWN INTO EXILE on guitar
The collaboration with Michael Amott developed through the band’s connection with ARCH ENEMY, whom THROWN INTO EXILE are currently supporting on tour.
Amott explained that he had been following the Los Angeles group’s progress and welcomed the opportunity to contribute to their new recording.
“I’ve been watching THROWN INTO EXILE steadily grow over the last couple of years, so when Mario brought the opportunity to lay down a guest solo on one of their tracks, it was a no-brainer to team up with my current tour mates. Give it a listen!”
For guitarist Mario Rubio, the collaboration provided an opportunity to exchange lead guitar passages with a musician whose melodic approach has influenced generations of metal guitarists.
Rubio commented:
“What more can I say that hasn’t been said? He is the master of melodies, and having his feel and legendary phrasing on this song is nothing short of an honor. What an experience to trade a lead with him!”
The single’s accompanying artwork was created by Medardo Terrazas.
Currently touring with ARCH ENEMY and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER
THROWN INTO EXILE are currently touring North America in support of ARCH ENEMY and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER.
The remaining dates include performances in Cleveland, Minneapolis, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Seattle, Sacramento, and Los Angeles throughout November.
The Sacramento performance on November 18 will take place without THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, while the November 19 Los Angeles show will proceed without THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER or SEPTICFLESH.
Over the years, THROWN INTO EXILE have performed alongside acts including ORBIT CULTURE, AT THE GATES, DETHKLOK, and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. The band has also appeared at international festivals, including Bloodstock in the United Kingdom.
With “Remorse,” THROWN INTO EXILE continue introducing their current lineup and new material ahead of further releases expected in 2027.
