Milwaukee, Wisconsin-based death metal veterans Viogression have unleashed Superposition, the second single from their upcoming fourth album, Thaumaturgic Veil, set for self-release on July 11, 2025. The single is available for streaming online, offering a glimpse into the album’s metaphysical exploration of consciousness, vibrational frequencies, and esoteric intent, blending raw death metal with intricate sound design.
Thaumaturgic Veil weaves a sonic tapestry that transcends traditional death metal, drawing on ancient alchemy and Thelema’s Great Work to explore the interplay of awareness and materiality. The opening track, Enûma Elish Ilū, sets a tone of infinite expanse with modal tones and microtonal shifts, while the album intensifies with growling guitars, relentless drums, and melodic leads, echoing the band’s roots in the genre’s early ‘90s sound. Fans of Obituary’s sludgy riffs, Death’s aggression, and Morbid Angel’s raw power will find resonance in Viogression’s unrefined yet technical style.
The album, produced by Viogression, was engineered and mixed by Chris Djuricic, with mastering by Dave Otero. Artwork by Diego Gedoz de Souza, with CD art by Yan Sek and design by DGX Studios, complements the release.
