Danish rock band Volbeat—Michael Poulsen (vocals, guitar), Jon Larsen (drums), and Kaspar Boye Larsen (bass)—have unleashed their ninth studio album, God of Angels Trust, today, via Republic/Universal. Alongside the release, the band shared the video for their latest single, “Demonic Depression,” a raw exploration of mental health struggles.
Poulsen reflects: “‘Demonic Depression’ is based on a close friend’s state of mind over a couple of years. I’ve played it for friends, and many asked, ‘Did you write that about me?’ It shows how universal depression is. The best way to help is to listen and talk. I’ve had my own mental struggles, so I’m part of the lyrics too.”
