Denver, Colorado’s WAYFARER have released “Grey Country,” the third and final single from their upcoming sixth studio album, Riders of the Setting Sun, scheduled for release on November 20, 2026, through Vesperian. The track features guest appearances from Munly J Munly and Rebecca Vera, two musicians closely associated with Denver’s gothic Americana scene.

The new single continues WAYFARER‘s exploration of the darker aspects of American history and culture, combining the band’s atmospheric foundations with influences from folk, post-punk, and gothic Americana.

“Grey Country” presents one of the album’s most somber moments, unfolding through a slow, brooding arrangement that explores themes of legacy, guilt, and the emotional weight of the past. Munly J Munly’s distinctive vocal delivery complements the band’s restrained instrumentation, creating an atmosphere that moves between confession and lament.

Both Munly J Munly and Rebecca Vera have longstanding connections to Denver’s alternative music community through projects including SLIM CESSNA’S AUTO CLUB, MUNLY & THE LUPERCALIANS, and DBUK. Their participation further connects WAYFARER‘s evolving sound with the city’s established gothic Americana tradition.

The collaboration follows the previously released single “Perdition’s Crossing,” featuring David Eugene Edwards, known for his work with 16 HORSEPOWER and WOVENHAND.

A New Direction for WAYFARER

Produced by Ben Chisholm, recognized for his collaborations with CHELSEA WOLFE, Riders of the Setting Sun represents another step in WAYFARER’s musical evolution.

While the band established its reputation through a combination of atmospheric black metal and themes rooted in the American West, the upcoming album moves further into gothic Americana, incorporating elements of post-punk, traditional folk, and rock and roll.

The eight-track record builds upon the musical direction explored on 2023’s American Gothic, expanding the band’s approach to storytelling and atmosphere while moving beyond the boundaries of extreme metal.

In addition to Munly J Munly and Rebecca Vera, the album features guest appearances from David Eugene Edwards, Kelly Schilling, and MIDWIFE, further emphasizing its connections to the American underground music scene.
