Chicago-based thrash metal band Bloodletter will release their third full-length album, Leave the Light Behind, on July 25, 2025, through Wise Blood Records and Morbid & Miserable Records. The album is available in vinyl, CD, cassette, and digital formats, with pre-orders accessible at bloodlettermetal.bandcamp.com. Formed in 2012, Bloodletter features Pete Carparelli (vocals/guitar), Pat Armamentos (guitar), Tanner Hudson (bass), and Zach Sutton (drums).

Leave the Light Behind follows their 2023 album A Different Kind of Hell and their contribution to Wise Blood Records’ 2024 split series Faster Than the Devil 3. The album blends the melodic riffing of their 2021 release Funeral Hymns with the aggressive speed of A Different Kind of Hell, introducing darker, more sinister tones. The ten-track record includes:
- A World Unmade
- On Blackened Wings
- Eternal Winter
- Terminal
- Unearthing Darkness
- Hunting Horror
- The Black Death
- Call of the Deep One
- The Burial
- Night Terrors
Lyrically, the album explores supernatural threats, and cosmic horrors.
Recorded and mixed by Pete Carparelli at Haunted Hill Recordings, mastered by Matt Engstrom at Reel Sounds Studios, and produced by Carparelli and Engstrom, the album features artwork by Jon Self, layout by David Jaggar, and band photography by Cosmo Sutton. Vocalist/guitarist Pete Carparelli notes the band’s aim to create “grandiose and dramatic arrangements” while retaining their core sound of speed and harmonized riffs.
