German pagan folk group FAUN will release their twelfth studio album, HEX, on September 5, 2025, via Universal Music. Known for blending ancient musical traditions with modern sounds, FAUN delivers a mesmerizing journey through pre-Christian legends, magical folk traditions, and spiritual symbolism across twelve tracks. The album’s title, derived from the German Hexe (witch) and Old High German Hagazussa (“hedge-sitter”), reflects its exploration of witches, healers, and wise women across Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, Norse, and Turkish mythologies.
The band has unveiled the lead single, “Lament,” accompanied by a captivating music video, offering a glimpse into the enchanting world of HEX. Watch the “Lament” video:
HEX weaves stories like Merlin and Nimue, Viking sacrificial rites (“Blot”), and ancient spells (“Ylfa Spere”), brought to life with medieval instruments (hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, lute, harp) fused with modern beats and synthesizers. The album features collaborations with Fatma Turgut, Daniel Pettersson, Daniel Fredriksson, and a haunting contribution from Chelsea Wolfe on “Nimue.” Produced by FAUN and mixed by Thomas Heimann-Trosien, HEX is a testament to the band’s ability to bridge ancient and contemporary soundscapes. FAUN will embark on a global World Hex Tour 2025, kicking off in May with EU festivals and continuing through the US, Canada, Latin America, Europe, and the UK.
