Texas-based progressive metalcore band FERVENCE have unveiled the official music video for “Oculum,” a track taken from their latest full-length album, Constructs, available now through Metal Blade Records. The release arrives as the band continues its US tour alongside ENTHRONEMENT.

Blending atmospheric textures, crushing riffs, and emotionally charged vocals, FERVENCE continue to carve out their own identity within modern progressive metalcore. Drawing inspiration from bands such as DEFTONES, ARCHITECTS, and SILENT PLANET, the quintet combines moments of intense aggression with haunting melodies and cinematic arrangements.

Speaking about the inspiration behind “Oculum,” founding guitarist Trent Odneal explains:

“This song draws a lot of inspiration from the grittiness in Deftones’ self-titled album. I really tried to make it feel dark, abrasive, human if you will, while maintaining a cinematic undertone, without overdoing it.”

The accompanying music video offers another glimpse into the band’s creative vision, highlighting the darker and more atmospheric elements that define their latest material.

A new chapter with Constructs

Originally formed in Reno, Nevada, in 2019 as Trent Odneal’s solo project, FERVENCE released their debut album, Ghost, in 2020. The record introduced the project’s emotionally driven approach to heavy music, exploring themes of identity, vulnerability, and the human experience.

The band entered a new phase in 2023 with the arrival of vocalist Stevie B., whose ability to move between aggressive screams and ethereal melodies brought a new dimension to FERVENCE’s sound.

Following a series of West Coast performances and shows alongside acts including OTEP, LEFT TO SUFFER, and GIDEON, the group released four singles that eventually formed their second offering, the EP Realm//One.

Now based in Austin, Texas, FERVENCE have taken another significant step forward with Constructs, their debut release through Metal Blade Records.

The eleven-track album explores deeply personal themes surrounding life, death, emotions, and relationships, pairing introspective songwriting with expansive arrangements and modern metalcore intensity.

During the writing process, Odneal deliberately shifted his approach to composition, creating more room for vocal melodies while emphasizing atmosphere, song structure, and powerful choruses.

The result is a record that moves between crushing heaviness and delicate, emotionally resonant passages, reflecting the band’s evolving musical identity.

Constructs was produced by Trent Odneal and Austin Bentley, with mixing and mastering handled by Zack Ohren.

Critical acclaim for Constructs

Since its release, Constructs has received enthusiastic praise from music publications for its combination of progressive songwriting, emotional depth, and modern metalcore aggression.

New Noise Magazine described the band’s sound as striking and haunting, drawing comparisons to a collaboration between DEFTONES, FALLUJAH, and SILENT PLANET.

Meanwhile, Metal Temple highlighted the album’s exploration of impermanence, noting how its themes of identity, relationships, and ambition are expressed through a musical landscape that shifts between vulnerability and violence.

Vocalist Stevie B.’s dynamic range has also attracted attention, with RPM praising her ability to transition between guttural screams and atmospheric melodies.

With Constructs, FERVENCE demonstrate their ability to balance technical precision, cinematic atmosphere, and deeply personal songwriting without sacrificing the heaviness that defines their sound.

As the band continues its current US tour, the release of the “Oculum” video provides another opportunity for listeners to discover one of the emerging voices in progressive metalcore.
