Italian power metal band FROZEN CROWN have released their cover of GOO GOO DOLLS’ 1998 hit “Iris,” accompanied by an official music video. The track arrives as the final single ahead of the band’s sixth studio album, The Legend of the Six Kings, out October 2, 2026, via Napalm Records.

FROZEN CROWN transform the alternative rock classic into a power metal rendition that moves from its recognizable waltz-time ballad foundation into high-speed drums, heavier guitars and dual vocals from Giada “Jade” Etro and Federico Mondelli.

The accompanying music video documents footage from FROZEN CROWN’s first North American tour, where they supported KAMELOT alongside VISIONS OF ATLANTIS. According to Etro, performing “Iris” each night became one of the memorable moments of the tour.

“As the last single before the album release, this video plays an important role documenting the amazing time we had during our first North American tour,” Etro says. “We played ‘Iris’ every night, and we were impressed by how strong the emotional impact was on the hundreds of people having these lyrics and this melody already cemented in their DNA.”

The cover will appear on The Legend of the Six Kings, an album that sees FROZEN CROWN returning to the fantasy narrative established on their 2018 debut, The Fallen King. Across ten tracks, the band expands that story while moving into a darker musical direction.

According to FROZEN CROWN, the record was created around the idea of refining their sound into increasingly direct compositions while retaining the elements that have defined the band. The album incorporates speed metal, symphonic metal and melodic death metal influences alongside the group’s established power metal foundation.

The concept also places greater emphasis on the six members of the current lineup, with drummer and multi-instrumentalist Niso Tomasini becoming more involved in songwriting alongside Etro and Federico Mondelli. Guitarist Aleksandra Stamenkovic also brings an old-school lead guitar approach to the record.

Opening track “Lightning in the Sky” establishes the album’s battlefield setting before “Who Wants to Burn in Heaven” introduces choir-backed arrangements and a heavier groove. “Reborn” follows as an anthem centered on perseverance and unity.

“The One” continues the album’s fantasy-inspired narrative with darker atmospheres and an arrangement featuring all three of the band’s guitarists. Elsewhere, “Winter Hearts” reaches back toward the sound of The Fallen King with heavy riffs, growled vocals and a large melodic chorus.

The record continues through the melancholic “River of Time,” the more assertive “Through the Fire” and “To the Stars” before concluding with its title track. “The Legend of the Six Kings” pushes toward melodic death metal territory through growled verses and another vocal pairing between Etro and Mondelli.
