VOID guitarist and songwriter GABRIEL LEJEUNE will release his debut instrumental solo album, Pyramids, on October 30 via Shadow Kingdom Records. The album will be available on CD and vinyl.
Alongside the announcement, LEJEUNE has unveiled the first track from the record, “Infinite Horizons,” offering an initial glimpse into an instrumental project that pushes his technical guitar work beyond the framework of VOID.
The Louisiana guitarist has already made his mark in the underground through VOID, particularly following the release of the band’s Forbidden Morals via Shadow Kingdom Records. While VOID draws heavily from the technical side of thrash metal, Pyramids gives LEJEUNE room to fully explore those influences without vocals.
The resulting album dives deep into the tradition of instrumental shred guitar while expanding beyond pure technicality. Elements reminiscent of the golden age of shred and the classic Shrapnel Records sound intersect with the technical thrash approach associated with bands such as FORBIDDEN, TOXIK and ANNIHILATOR.
Across Pyramids, LEJEUNE builds intricate compositions around shifting tempos, dynamic changes and expressive lead guitar work. Rather than treating the guitar as simply a showcase for speed, the album places melody and atmosphere alongside its more technically demanding passages.
The record offers a broader look at LEJEUNE’s playing and songwriting outside VOID, moving between aggressive riffing, melodic passages and elaborate instrumental arrangements throughout its eight tracks.
