Internationally acclaimed guitarist and Firewind mastermind Gus G. has officially released his fifth solo album, Steel Burner, out now via Metal Department.
Marking his first solo effort in five years, Steel Burner delivers a blistering fusion of modern instrumental metal and standout vocal collaborations featuring some of heavy music’s most recognizable voices.
To celebrate the album’s arrival, GUS G. has unveiled a brand new single and music video for “Dancing With Death,” featuring the powerful vocals of former Iced Earth frontman and current Ashes of Ares vocalist Matt Barlow. The track blends epic metal with a contemporary edge while exploring the dark and gripping theme of addiction.

Following an intense cycle of post-pandemic touring, Steel Burner represents a renewed and razor-sharp creative vision. The album highlights GUS G.’s signature guitar work—technical precision, melodic depth, and sheer intensity—while expanding its scope through high-profile guest vocalists.
The album’s title track served as the catalyst for the entire project. Originally commissioned for a company manufacturing industrial metal-shaping machinery, the concept was inspired by a massive piece of equipment named “Steel Burner,” whose relentless energy helped define the album’s direction.
Among the standout collaborations, “Nothing Can Break Me” features metal icon Doro Pesch, delivering an anthemic message of strength and resilience. “No One Has To Know,” featuring Dino Jelusick, takes aim at the artificial personas of social media culture, while two tracks featuring Ronnie Romero (Rainbow) stem from the duo’s recent joint world tour.
With Steel Burner, GUS G. delivers a confident and forward-looking statement—honoring heavy metal’s roots while embracing modern production, themes, and collaboration.
