Modern metal band SICKSENSE have unveiled their haunting new single, “A Moment Of Violence,” the latest track from their forthcoming EP, Funerals, set for release on September 25, 2026.
Exploring death, grief and the complicated relationship between personal faith and suffering, “A Moment Of Violence” finds SICKSENSE wrestling with the questions that emerge following the loss of someone close.
“The song discusses death and losing loved ones close to us,” the band explains. “It’s a personal battle with God/a higher power, that we emotionally wrestle with and find difficulty and frustration in coming to terms with. There’s an irony in that if God loves us so much, why do we end up suffering in this life and suddenly losing all the ones we truly love to death.”
Serving as the closing track on Funerals, “A Moment Of Violence” takes a more somber approach to the frustrations explored throughout the EP. The song begins as a moody ballad with vocalist Vicky Psarakis on piano, accompanied by thunderstorm ambience and orchestration that includes violin performed by bassist Richard Regier.

The restrained opening eventually gives way to the full force of the band, culminating in a heavy breakdown that brings Funerals to its conclusion.
With each new release, SICKSENSE continue to expand the boundaries of their sound, merging metalcore, nu metal and djent with contrasting vocal styles, atmospheric production and emotionally charged songwriting.
Originally formed in Montreal, SICKSENSE are fronted by vocalists Vicky Psarakis and Robby J. Fonts, whose contrasting approaches have become central to the band’s identity.
Psarakis and Fonts first met backstage at Heavy Montreal in 2015. At the time, Psarakis was fronting THE AGONIST, while Fonts had previously served as vocalist for rap metal veterans STUCK MOJO. Their shared interest in heavy music without strict genre boundaries eventually led to the formation of SICKSENSE.
The band officially emerged with debut single “Make Believe” in 2021 before releasing the Kings Today EP in 2022 and Fools Tomorrow in 2023.
SICKSENSE signed with Earache Records in 2023 and released their debut full-length, Cross Me Twice, in 2025. The album reached No. 10 on the UK Rock and Metal Albums Chart and No. 33 on the UK Independent Albums Chart.
During that period, the band toured throughout the United States alongside acts including ESCAPE THE FATE, SNOT, THE UNION UNDERGROUND, SPINESHANK and CALVA LOUISE, while also appearing at Louder Than Life 2025.
In 2026, SICKSENSE announced their return to being fully independent, giving the band complete creative control as they entered their next chapter. Working with producer Joey Doherty, the group have pushed their material toward darker, heavier and increasingly experimental territory on Funerals.
Drawing inspiration from bands including LINKIN PARK, LIMP BIZKIT, SLIPKNOT, KORN, EVANESCENCE, UNDEROATH, WHITECHAPEL, PERIPHERY and MONUMENTS, SICKSENSE combine metallic aggression with groove, atmospheric keys, cinematic production and the interplay between Psarakis’ melodic vocals and screams and Fonts’ aggressive, rap-influenced delivery.
