German melancholic heavy metal band THE NIGHT ETERNAL have released a new video for “The Veins Of Time,” the third single from their forthcoming Metal Blade Records debut, Cold Velvet, arriving August 21.
Opening the B-side of the record, “The Veins Of Time” introduces another dimension to THE NIGHT ETERNAL’s sound. A hypnotic, post-punk-influenced goth introduction gradually builds into a mixture of heavy rock, melancholy and dreamlike atmosphere before reaching an expansive finale driven by Ricardo Baum’s vocals and a soaring guitar solo from Robert Richter.
The track follows previously released singles “Where This World Ends” and “Caught In A Spell.”
With Cold Velvet, THE NIGHT ETERNAL continue developing a sound rooted in traditional heavy metal while drawing heavily from gothic rock and post-punk. Across its eight tracks, ritualistic rhythms, melodic guitar work and large choruses intersect with darker, more atmospheric passages.
The album was recorded between May and December 2025 at Church Of Sound Studios near Munich, Germany. Michael Zech handled production, recording and mixing. Known both as guitarist for Secrets Of The Moon and for his production work with Sulphur Aeon, Triptykon and The Ruins Of Beverast, Zech brought a background primarily rooted in extreme metal to the sessions.
The band says that background helped give the record a distinctive character:
“One particularly exciting aspect of our collaboration with Michael was that he has predominantly worked with black and death metal bands in recent years. This gave the entire recording and mixing process fresh and distinctive energy.”
According to THE NIGHT ETERNAL, Zech eventually became so involved with the material that the relationship felt less like working with an outside producer and more like collaborating with another member of the band.
