Finnish melodic metallers UNÉN has released its latest single, “Love Story,” accompanied by an intense, cinematic music video featuring vocalist Stina Girs. The track offers another glimpse into the band’s upcoming studio album, following the release of the energetic single “Dancing In Flames” earlier this year.
While its predecessor delivered an explosive dose of heavy rock, “Love Story” takes a different approach, embracing a slower tempo, atmospheric melodies, and emotionally charged storytelling. Beneath its seemingly restrained exterior, however, lies a haunting tale of eternal love.
“Our previous single, ‘Dancing In Flames’, was a kind of release of energy for us – a heavy rock track that really went full throttle. With ‘Love Story’, we wanted to do something completely different,” the band explains.
“We deliberately decided to slow things down and give more room to melody and the story itself. We wanted to create a really tight, concise track with all the excess stripped away – every second and every word has a purpose.”
A vampire romance that transcends lifetimes
At the heart of “Love Story” is a supernatural romance inspired by the idea of soulmates reconnecting across different lifetimes. The accompanying music video brings this concept to life, with Girs taking center stage in a visually striking portrayal of love, longing, and immortality.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the idea that somewhere out there, the right person is waiting for me – someone I’ve already loved in a previous life,” Girs shares.
“The wait may last for years or even until the next lifetime, but when we finally meet, there’s no doubt that we recognise each other. ‘Love Story’ is a vampire romance. A love that lasts from one life and era to the next, forever.”
The combination of melodic arrangements and gothic-inspired storytelling showcases another dimension of UNÉN’s evolving sound, balancing emotional vulnerability with the intensity that defines their modern metal approach.
Looking ahead to a new album and 2027 performances
Girs, who first gained recognition through Finland’s Idols competition, joined UNÉN in 2023. Her arrival marked a new chapter for the six-piece band, which released its album Forever Winter through Frontiers Music Srl in 2025.

With “Love Story” and “Dancing In Flames” offering contrasting previews of their next musical direction, UNÉN is now preparing its upcoming studio album while planning a return to the stage in 2027. Additional details regarding the record and live performances are expected to be announced.
