With Abditum, VOIDCEREMONY once again traverse the shadowed corridors of consciousness, where labyrinthine riffs, esoteric time shifts, and cosmic dissonance coalesce into a singular entity of progressive death metal mysticism. The record channels the band’s signature blend of chaos and precision, music of alien logic and occult geometry.
Composed primarily by Wandering Mind (Garrett Johnson) and featuring The Archonoclast (Jayson McGehee) on guitars, Dylan Marks (Atheist-live) on drums, and dual bass architects The Great Righteous Destroyer (Damon Good of Mournful Congregation, Stargazer, Cauldron Black Ram) and The Absent Deity (Ben Ricci), the ensemble crafts a work that expands both in technical scope and spiritual descent.
“‘Failure Of Ancient Wisdoms’ is one of my personal favorites from the record,” shares Wandering Mind. “It’s about humanity’s disregard for philosophy — the loss of understanding and the decay of wisdom. The song spirals into its own oblivion, ending with one of my favorite solos by The Archonoclast — a fitting farewell to enlightenment.”
The single captures VOIDCEREMONY’s hallmark sound, riff structures that morph between clarity and chaos. The result is an experience that demands full immersion, revealing new layers upon every listen.
Abditum was recorded by CK at Exum Studios (California), with additional recording by Jon Hasz at RMC. Bass was tracked between the U.S. and Australia. Mixing and mastering were handled by Andy Kite at Against the Grain Studio (South Australia). The album features artwork and layout by Khuzuzu.
